Using TaiTalk
What is TaiTalk?
TaiTalk is a live voice translator app for Android, made by Ayambil in Bhopal, India. It translates spoken conversations between two people in 70 languages: face to face on one phone, or on a translated call between two phones, out loud and written on screen.
Which languages does TaiTalk translate?
70 languages, in any pair: Hindi, English, German, Marathi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Gujarati, Punjabi, Kannada, Malayalam, Urdu, Spanish, French, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese and many more. See all languages.
Is TaiTalk free?
TaiTalk is free to install, and every phone starts with free minutes. When you need more, watch a short video or buy a minute pack: a one-time purchase, no subscription. See pricing.
How is TaiTalk different from other translator apps?
It is made for a conversation between two people, not for one person reading a sign. You do not press a button or pick a direction before each sentence: put the phone between you and talk, and each of you hears the other in your own language. The same works on a call.
Do both people need the app?
Face to face, no: one phone is enough. For a call, both of you need TaiTalk.
Does it need the internet?
Yes. Translation happens online, over mobile data or Wi-Fi.
How accurate is it?
It works well for everyday conversation, but machine translation can make mistakes. For medical, legal or emergency matters, use a qualified interpreter.
Which phones does it work on?
Android phones with Android 8 or newer.
Is it on iPhone?
Not yet. Join the waitlist and we will tell you when it is.
Do I need an account?
No. You can start without one. Signing in with Google is needed only to watch videos for minutes or to buy a minute pack, and it keeps your minutes when you change phones.
Minutes and payment
How are minutes counted?
One minute of conversation or call uses one minute, in any language. A conversation or call stops when your minutes run out.
Who pays for a call?
The caller. The caller's minutes cover the call for both of you; the person you call needs no minutes.
How do I pay?
Inside the app, through Google Play. We never see your card, bank or UPI details.
Can I get a refund?
See the refund and cancellation policy.
If something goes wrong
No sound, or the wrong speaker?
The line under the language card says where the sound is going. Choose Speaker if in doubt.
The app says "Not enough to start"?
Your minutes are low. Open the Minutes page in the app to add more.
Someone sent me a TaiTalk link?
A link like taitalk.com/add/ABCD-EFGH opens TaiTalk with that person filled in, when the app is installed.
Something else went wrong?
In the app, Settings → If something goes wrong → Export diagnostics makes a file with no conversation content in it. Attach it to your message.

When you write
About a purchase, include the Google Play order number (it starts with GPA.). About your data, write from the e-mail you signed in with, or include your TaiTalk code. Refunds and data deletion are explained in the refund policy and the privacy policy.
