TaiTalk translates spoken conversation between two people in real time, face to face and over calls. It handles the most sensitive thing an app can handle: what you say. This page states plainly what happens to it, and what is kept.
The short version
- Your speech is translated in the cloud, as you speak, by our translation service provider. Your audio leaves the phone only while a conversation is running.
- We never receive, store or listen to your audio, and we keep no recordings.
- Written transcripts stay on your phone, only while "Save conversations" is on. You can turn it off and delete them.
- Calls are encrypted between the two phones and translated the same way as face to face. We do not receive or store what is said.
- There is no phone number, no contact-list access and no third-party analytics. Our servers keep simple usage counts, never what was said. Ads appear only as short videos you choose to watch for minutes.
- Signing in with Google is optional. It is needed for videos and minute packs, and lets your minutes follow you to a new phone.
- Minute packs are paid through Google Play. We never see your card, bank or UPI details.

Our translation service provider
Speech is translated by a cloud service provider we contract for that purpose. It receives your audio only while a conversation runs, and handles it under its own terms, which may allow it to use what it receives to improve its services. If that matters for a particular conversation, do not have it through TaiTalk.
Us
Our servers never see your audio or your transcripts; they hold only the records in the table above. Requests from the app are authenticated, and the network addresses they come from are logged for a short time so abuse can be spotted. A call notification carries the caller's code, name and language, nothing spoken.
Permissions, and why each one exists

TaiTalk asks for no location, no contacts, no storage, no camera and no phone-state access.
While the microphone is live, you can see it
Whenever a conversation is running there is a permanent TaiTalk notification with a Stop button. An app that can listen must never be able to listen quietly.
Your control
- Save conversations (Settings): off means nothing is written when a conversation ends.
- Delete: any single conversation or all of them; the recent-calls list from the Calls tab.
- Remove a contact: takes you off each other's lists.
- Sign out: from the You tab, on any phone.
- Your e-mail: write to us and we remove it; your account and minutes keep working.
- The iPhone waitlist: write to us and your address comes off the list.
- Delete everything: uninstalling TaiTalk, or clearing its data in Android settings, removes every transcript, setting and log on the phone. To have your server records (code, contacts, minutes, sign-in, e-mail) deleted as well, write to us.
Children
TaiTalk is not designed for or directed at children.
